Ever see your students grab random numbers from a word problem and just start guessing operations? Let’s flip the script!
In alignment with our enVision + California Math curriculum, this collaborative PD focuses on putting students in the driver's seat of their own mathematical thinking. When they lead the problem-solving, engagement and confidence soar! During this session you will practice:
The 3 Reads Strategy: Master the routine that teaches kids to slow down and dissect word problems like a story—focusing on context, quantities, and questions before doing any math.
Co-Crafting Problems: Learn how to present real-world scenarios without a question, inviting students to co-craft the math problems themselves.
Student-Led Discourse: Grab quick routines that honor multiple solution pathways and make student thinking the star of your classroom.
Come ready to play, think like your students, and leave with high-impact strategies you can use right away!

Some students can be shy and afraid to share opinions or ideas. Other students have lots to say about all sorts of topics, just not always the topic at hand. Luckily, daily Math Talks, which are part of the new enVision + California Math curriculum, will give the students daily practice on how to speak effectively in a group, how to listen and respond to the speaker, and develop mathematical language
This interactive PD will explore the Math Talks that are provided in the new curriculum. We will share quick and easy ways to make the most out of this 5 to 10 minute whole class activity. In this session you will:
Review the different types of Math Talks included in the program.
Learn discourse procedures to give students a variety of partners and groups to talk with
Learn how the Standards for Mathematical Practice are embedded into each Math Talk.

How do we move students from slow, stressful counting to fast, flexible thinking? It’s not about timed drills—it’s about building genuine number confidence!
Rooted in our enVision + California Math curriculum, this active, hands-on PD explores methods for daily practice. We will dive into how consistent, meaningful routines build both rock-solid basic math facts and a deep conceptual understanding of standard algorithms. During this session you will:
Play to Learn: Put on your student hat! You’ll learn and play high-engagement, low-prep games that make fact fluency feel like recess.
Master the Mechanics: Explore methods in enVision that bridge basic facts to multi-digit algorithms.
Maximize Your Minutes: Walk away with suggestions for scheduling this 5-10 minute daily practice into your busy day.
Come ready to roll some dice and play some games so you can be ready at the start the year!
